About Sobremesa Festival

Sobremesa Festival is a day-long Mexican food and ideas event that seeks to encourage conversations about fields-to-table culture, fair-food movements and gastronomic explorations within Mexico and the United States.

Sobremesa Festival has three components: Talks, Pop-Up Market and Food Hall. Attendees will listen to food experts and leaders in Mexican gastronomy, food industry, academics and activism, experience the flavors, colors, textures, sounds and smells of a Mexican pop-up market and try new foods while engaging with the rituals of Mexican cuisine.

Sobremesa Festival is a Jaime Lucero Mexican Studies Institute at CUNY initiative created in collaboration with various community-based organizations that are already promoting cultural, educational, and social programming for the Mexican community in the United States.

Sobremesa Festival will take place on May 20th from 9am to 6pm at The Great Hall of the City College of New York.
